“Pronto Tire Change” is a video art piece that responds to the immediate environment at the time a decision is to be made. In this case, an immediate response was given to a popped tire on the interstate. Sudden chaotic events like this are prone to happen in one’s personal life. Through my video art, I wanted to depict that even in a state of mayhem, one can find a meditative sense of peace and stillness in their surroundings.
“Metamorphosis” is a performance art piece created from a point of introspection, but it can be relatable to most. As humans and living organisms, we all go through a period of transformation in our lives. The period right before, or during a person’s self-evolution can be rough. This performance was conducted during a time in my life when I was overcoming trauma from the past and unlearning some of the toxic behaviors I picked up along the path of life. I wanted to relate to my audience and let people know that they are not the only ones.
